Hidden debt problems amount to more than £50 billion

A quarter of UK adults are concealing some form of debts from their partners, new research has concluded.
The survey found that the average amount of secret debt from sources such as credit cards, loans and overdrafts is £4,096.32.
In total, this amounts to about £50.1 billion in hidden liabilities split between 12.2 million people.
Those most likely to lie about their debt were in the 19 to 30 age bracket, while consumers aged 36-40 who had the greatest amount of concealed borrowing at £5,883.80, just ahead of the 46-50 age group at £5,880.47.
People keen to do something about their financial problems might wish to take out a debt consolidation loan to lower their interest payments.
Mark Leaper of Debt Advice Online recently commented that people in the UK need to learn to budget better than they current do to avoid the slippery slope and endless debt problems.
